George and Vivian have been with us a week now, and although the week isn't quite the one we had imagined during the last 8 months, it has been quite eventful.
George was sent home with us, while Vivian was still in the NICU, however, at his 4day exam at our wonderful pediatrician's office, we hit a snag and George was admitted back to Swedish, where he remains in the PICU for what they think is 'NEC' - intestinal issues that mean he can't eat for 5-10 days and then will be started on a slow feeding process.
Mom has a cot in the room and Dad goes back and forth. Grandma stayed a week and helped us with everything from handling Dennis to doing just about all the housework - she's had 4 kids to practice with!
Our days are spent running from 8East to 2South, where Vivian was moved to start her feeding process earlier in the week. We meet an endless stream of nurses who do their best to assure us that this is only a temporary glitch and sooner rather than later, we will all be home together. Right now, Vivian is off her IV and has been moved out of her little incubator into a regular 'bed' of sorts.
She is learning to nurse and takes bottles beautifully from Dad.
George is still hooked up to many machines but is still darn cute. It is amazing what you can adjust to, and see past, eventually.
This is a far cry from my vision of bringing home two newborns in little carriers and showing them off to big brother, and starting the process of eat, sleep, change.
As of today, we think Vivian has several more days to a week at least, and George probably a week or two longer than Vivian.
We appreciate everything everyone has been doing to help us get through this!

You guys are amazing and they are so cute. I know that everything will work out great. I am sure that this part is incredibly difficult but it is only temporary. Wish that we were still out there to lend a hand.
